Cristal Care- COVID-19 Response

Cristal Care’s top priority is the health and safety of the people we support and our staff team. To help reduce the risk of the virus being brought into our services we have taken a number of measures across board. These are:

  • Developed a business continuity/ risk action plan individual to each service. Ensuring throughout contingency plans are shared with staff teams.
  • Cancelled all non essential meetings and visitors.
  • Service managers offering emotional support throughout to staff and residents.
  • Minimised the use of shared space on sites and encourage social distancing measures (2meters) where possible for residents who do not share a home but are at the same service.
  • Contacted all family members and created new ways of staying in touch and reduce feelings of social isolation by using phone calls and video conferencing software on smart phones, tablets and portable computers.
  • Increased cleaning regimes across the board.
  • Increased infection control procedures.
  • Ensuring we have adequate stock of PPE in place should we need to respond to a suspected or positive case.
  • Provided easy read information to our residents who would benefit from having information relayed in this way.
  • Temperature testing for staff and residents.
  • Following advice of GP’s and NHS 111 service.
  • Resident’s have COVID-19 Hospital passports in place.
  • Reporting information COVID-19 forms.
  • Producing easy read information to our resident’s in these difficult times.
  • Communicating with purchasing local authorities and clinical commissioning teams enabling plans for aid.

We are closely following the guidance of the Public Health England and the NHS, keeping up to date with any changes in official advice. If any information changes we will update our advice accordingly and we are ensuring our information follows government advice.

We understand that this is a difficult time for everyone particularly some of our residents who are reliant on structure and routines as part of their day. We are working hard to minimise the distribution by being inventive with what we are doing on sites to keep residents busy and active whilst staying safe inside. We will keep you updated with how Cristal Care services have been spending their time.
