Learning Disability Week 2020

This years focus on learning disability week from the 15th- 21st June looks at the importance of friendships during lockdown. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we are all currently living in lockdown. This means that many people with a learning disability are feeling isolated, as they are unable to see their friends and families.

We know that statistically people with a learning disability already experience high levels of loneliness and social isolation and that this will only have been made worse by the lockdown for some people. Cristal Care promote and encourage relationships with others and across our services our residents have built solid friendships with each other.

We want to show the importance of promoting and enabling friendships and how as a support worker and how this improves the quality of lives the people we support. Not only have Cristal Care’s team have been understanding and supportive to help support our residents with tackling isolation, they have also made arrangements to explore the different ways of maintaining friendships during this unusual time.
